INSURELOANSA
INSURELOANSA · Module 1Financial MarketplaceLive — Pre-FSPWeb + WhatsApp + Voice

Nine product categories.
Forty providers. No steering.

Every South African who has ever bought insurance through a broker has bought it with incomplete information. The broker showed them what the broker had. INSURELOANSA shows them what exists. For free. In under 2 minutes. On their phone — via web, WhatsApp, or voice.

The dual audience

Consumer sees

Every available option side by side with confirmed Rand premiums. No salespeople. No callbacks before they have decided. No login required to see prices.

Technical evaluator sees

Multi-channel comparison engine — QuoteWizard (5,150 lines, React Hook Form + Zod), SAM on WhatsApp (Twilio) and Voice (VAPI), FastAPI backend, Supabase lead storage, real-time rate engine.

9 verticals · 40+ providers · 5,150-line QuoteWizard · 3 channels · Pre-FSP lead generation mode

Why INSURELOANSA exists

The broker problem is not dishonesty. It is structural conflict.

South African brokers are not villains. The incentive structure is the problem. A broker who places a consumer with Insurer A earns a different commission than one who places them with Insurer B. The broker has a quota. The broker has a relationship with specific insurers. The consumer has no way to know that what the broker shows them is a subset of what is available.

INSURELOANSA's SAM has no quota. SAM has no commission. SAM has no insurer relationship. SAM shows every provider in every vertical — and then the consumer decides. The introduction fee model means INSURELOANSA earns the same introduction fee regardless of which provider the consumer selects. The steering incentive is structurally absent.

The comparison is the product. The consumer's informed decision is the outcome.

INSURELOANSA vs the alternatives

Going to a broker

What it misses

Broker shows products that pay the highest commission. Consumer sees one insurer per product at most. Broker has targets. Steering is structural, not always intentional.

What INSURELOANSA adds

Every available provider for every vertical. No commission. No targets. No steering. SAM presents all options — the consumer decides.

Calling the insurer directly

What it misses

Consumer can only buy that insurer's products. One product. One price. No comparison possible. Consumer has no reference point for whether the premium is competitive.

What INSURELOANSA adds

Up to 5 insurers shown side by side for each vertical with confirmed Rand premiums, waiting periods, exclusions, and key features.

CompareGuru and similar

What it misses

Website-only. No WhatsApp. No voice. No claims service. Limited product range. Consumer must navigate the comparison themselves.

What INSURELOANSA adds

Web + WhatsApp + Voice. Funeral claims acceleration as a separate module. 9 product categories. AI-guided qualification. Proactive lead follow-up.

Direct insurer app

What it misses

Single insurer. No independent comparison. Consumer is inside the insurer's sales environment from the first screen.

What INSURELOANSA adds

Independent comparison across all available providers in every vertical. No insurer relationship. No preference. No steering.

Doing nothing

What it misses

No cover. No comparison information. Family is financially exposed. Consumer assumes the process is too complex to navigate without a broker.

What INSURELOANSA adds

Free comparison in under 2 minutes — with real Rand prices — on the consumer's phone via WhatsApp. No data-heavy website required.

9 product categories — all live

Every product category with real South African providers and real Rand prices.

Each vertical exists because there is a specific South African consumer problem that a broker-mediated or single-insurer model does not solve. The vertical is the answer to the problem — not a product category chosen because it is commercially convenient.

Funeral Cover

The average South African family spends 3–6 weeks waiting for a funeral claim. The average funeral costs R15,000–R35,000. Most families cannot wait that long.

Life Insurance

Life insurance is the product most South Africans know they need and least understand. A consumer who calls a single insurer sees one product. INSURELOANSA shows four.

Retirement Annuity

Retirement annuity selection is the financial decision with the longest consequence horizon. Most consumers make it in a single advisor meeting with a single product on the table.

Personal Loans

Medical Insurance

Medical aid is unaffordable for most South Africans. Medical insurance — not medical aid — fills the gap. Five providers compared with actual monthly premiums.

Pet Insurance

Pet insurance in South Africa is a growing vertical with significant price variation across providers. Without a side-by-side comparison, most consumers default to the most-advertised option.

SAM — AI Information and Comparison Assistant

SAM is the same conversation on every channel.

The same product knowledge, the same comparison capability, the same plain-language approach — on the web, on WhatsApp, and by voice. The channel choice belongs to the consumer. SAM adapts. The legal boundary does not change.

Web — QuoteWizard

Embedded in the 5,150-line QuoteWizard. Handles product qualification, real-time premium calculation, comparison card rendering, and lead submission. Simple track for direct products. Complex track triggers FA handoff on FSP issuance.

SAM's legal boundary — what the architecture enforces

Presents factual product information — premiums, waiting periods, exclusions
Compares all available providers for the selected product side by side
Explains what each product covers and what it does not cover
Walks the consumer through the comparison process in plain language
Submits a lead to the provider the consumer selects
Follows up on submitted leads via the NurtureOrchestrator
Recommends a specific product or provider
Advises on which product suits the consumer's needs
Calls createApplication() — this function is dormant until FSP is issued
Applies discretion about which option is "better" for the consumer

SAM presents. SAM compares. SAM explains. SAM does not advise. The architecture enforces this — not just the copy.

Pre-FSP — legally distinct from intermediary services

The platform is live. The FSP application is in preparation. Both are deliberate.

The Financial Marketplace operates as a comparison and lead-generation platform. INSURELOANSA earns introduction fees from insurers and partners — not regulated commission from intermediary services under the FAIS Act. This position is confirmed by the Supreme Court of Appeal in the Tristar case.

This is not a workaround. It is a deliberate two-stage strategy. The marketplace runs in lead-generation mode now — building provider relationships, consumer volume, and revenue — while the FSP application is being prepared. On FSP issuance, the platform activates full intermediary services by switching four functions across four files.

The architecture is already built for the transition. The FSP is the trigger, not the starting point.

On FSP issuance — what changes

createApplication() activates across 4 files — full intermediary model live
Applications processed directly — not referred to providers for completion
FAIS-compliant advice pathway opens for categories I and IIA
Compliance disclosure requirements change — platform copy updated accordingly
Revenue model shifts from introduction fees to regulated commission

Known issues — Q2 2026 fix list

POPIA consent field (popia_accepted) not reaching backend on referral submission — causes 422 error
Submit button enters infinite loading state on error — setIsSubmitting(false) not in finally block
/quotes/start page shows 3 products — fix to show all 9 in progress
Legal insurance wizard step 2 shows LegalWise only — fix to show all 3 partners

Technical architecture

What runs under the comparison.

A real-time rate engine on the frontend. Three simultaneous channels sharing the same backend. A compliance gate that enforces the pre-FSP position at the API level — not just in the UI. Lead storage in Supabase with POPIA consent enforced as an API contract.
